Local Carolina Chevrolet Dealers Use Social Media to Start a Chain Reaction of Kindness

Birmingham, Ala. – A group of 27 North and South Carolina Chevrolet dealers join forces to give back to local neighborhoods and communities by partnering with national philanthropy, Rachel’s Challenge and North Carolina broadcast channel WCNC for a chance to win a just released 2012 Chevy Sonic. In support of Chevrolet’s 100th anniversary and launch of the new Chevy Sonic, North andSouth Carolina residents will have a chance to win one of three grand prizes by showcasing acts of kindness around their neighborhoods, schools and communities by uploading inspiring videos to a custom-built Rachel’s Challenge Facebook application.

“Rachel’s Challenge is an outstanding program with a demonstrated record of success and we wanted to do something big to show our support,” says Steve Moore, President of the Carolina Chevy Dealers. “Your Carolina Chevy dealers believe that this video contest will challenge student creativity in documenting acts of kindness and compassion that will motivate and inspire others to do the same in their communities.”

The Rachel’s Challenge Video Contest will live on Facebook delivering an easy way for residents to participate. The contest is divided into three rounds of challenges. Each round lasts for one month and focuses on acts of kindness in the neighborhood, school and community. Between the months of September and December, residents will inspire change by uploading their video of kindness to the Rachel’s Challenge Video Contest Facebook page. At the end of each month a winner will be chosen by Facebook fans and the Carolina Chevy Dealers board members. The winner of the first challenge will receive an iPad, second round winner will receive a cash prize of $5,000 and the final winner will receive an all-new 2012 Chevy Sonic.
